Offshore Community Benefits Workshops Held

Following publication earlier this year of the Scottish Government Community Benefit Good Practice Principles for Onshore Renewable Energy Developments, a subsequent document has been produced for community benefits from offshore developments.

This draft document has been created by Local Energy Scotland on behalf of Scottish Government and responses are currently being sought during a public consultation period.

To facilitate responses to this document, Local Energy Scotland held two public workshops in July, in Ayr and Methil. Jennifer Ramsay of Local Energy Scotland commented:

"It was great to see lively discussion at both workshops, and a range of issues discussed. The finalised document will be of relevance to a range of stakeholders, so we encourage any interested groups to consider submission of a consultation response as we are still seeking views on topics such as which technologies should be considered in the document, and how host communities should be defined for offshore renewable energy developments."

A summary report of comments at the workshops can be downloaded here.

The draft document and consultation response form can be found here, and responses can be submitted until 21 August 2014.
