Canna Renewable Energy and Electrification

The small island of Canna, in the Inner Hebrides, was previously powered by diesel generators. The Canna Renewable Energy and Electrification project uses a combination of solar, wind and battery storage, allowing the island's 18 residents to switch to green energy.

Isle of Canna Community Development Trust used funding mostly from CARES and the Big Lottery Fund to cover the costs of the project. Having a reliable, renewable energy supply on Canna should help the island's population, businesses and visitor numbers to flourish.
