The Algal Solution for Local Economy (ASLEE) partnership project looks to boost the economy in rural Scotland by using renewable power when and where it is generated, to produce high value microralgae.

This innovative project uses curtailed energy from community wind turbines to turn on lights in photobioreactor tubes, to grow algae. By using the algal manufacturing process as a transactive load, the project presents a solution to electricity grid constraint problems and helps make local renewable energy projects more viable.
