Award Amount: £4,080
Status: Completed March 2013
Area: Orkney
Audit to investigate some of the factors that prevent islands with community-owned turbines unlock the full generating potential of the turbines and maximise community generation.
The study covers the following:
• Existing renewable energy generation (heat and electricity)
• Potential renewable energy generation (heat and electricity)
• Existing energy distribution infrastructure, including grid networks, fuel depots and supply points
A second phase looking at the current energy demand, across energy sectors (heat/ electricity/ transport) and across economic sectors (domestic/ commercial/ industrial/ agricultural/ public sector) is covered though the 2014 Orkney Energy Audit delivered through the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum (OREF).
