Local Energy Scotland project models

Local Energy Scotland project models provide a short overview of a specific, replicable energy project.

New wind generation (grid connected, above 1MW)

This project model is aimed at those interested in installing one or more new wind turbines, to be locally owned, on land either owned or leased by the installation owner, directly connected to the electricity grid. The project may also aim to secure a Contracts for Difference in the next round to guarantee export payments.

Refurbished wind generation (grid connected)

This project model is aimed at those interested in creating a locally owned installation of one or more second-hand refurbished wind turbines on land owned by the installation owner and directly connected to the grid. Project finance is expected to be provided by the land/installation owner. This should ideally be funded directly from income, savings or through borrowing related to their land or other assets, or a community share owner.

Photovoltaic installation on a community building

This project model is aimed at local communities looking to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on a community building in order to save carbon and reduce energy costs.
